“Kelvin was professional, punctual and deeply knowledgeable about the various attractions he brought me to in Yangon. We spent a full day visiting 4 different attractions in Yangon, including the famous Shwedagon Pagoda. He spoke at length about the history of each of the attractions, and also advised on where the best photo spots for each attraction was.” – Sean, Singapore

Kelvin is so keen and proud to take you everywhere in Myanmar and to tell you about his country. He organised a car and a driver to drive us all over Yangon. I felt like we learned so much about the rich history of, well let’s be honest, a country with a tarnished recent history. We came away from Yangon thinking positively re-the future of Myanmar. In fact, we intend to return to Myanmar within 18 months to take in the country, again with the help of course of Kelvin” Terry, Australia

Highlights of Yangon

Karaweik Palace in Yangon

Karaweik Palace in Yangon

Yangon is the the largest city of Myanmar. Formerly called Rangoon, it has a population of  5.2 million people. Furthermore it was the capital of Myanmar until 2006. The military government relocated the capital to a purpose built city called Naypyidaw in the interior of the country.

The British captured Yangton in 1824-26 during the First Anglo-Burmese War. Nevertheless after winning, the British returned the administration to the Burmese. However a fire destroyed the city in 1841. In 1852, the British seized the city again in the Second Anglo-Burmese war. The British also seized the lower part of Burma, to produce British Burma. At this time, Yangon became an important trading hub. The British also set up Rangoon University and Rangoon Hospital.
