The Top 5 Things to Do in Mbabane Swaziland

1. Have A Picnic On Sibebe Rock – one of the most popular things to do in Mbabane

Sibebe Rock is one of the world’s giant rocks. Mbabane’s central core is around 10 kilometers away. Funnily enough, it is also the name of the national beer. It is about 3 billion years old. Indeed it is a must-see on any trip to Mbabane. A 10 km trek from the bottom or a much more leisurely walk from the resort at the top, this stroll is all about the wind in your hair and birds chirping. There are beautiful hills and rocks in the vicinity. Sibebe is all about rolling green hills (until winter), gigantic boulders, and magnificent vistas! Take a picnic and enjoy the day away from the bustle!

2. Trek On The Mdzimba Trail

Swaziland has a rich and colorful past and offers various activities to suit everyone’s tastes. The Mdzimba Trail is one of several historical and cultural pathways in the area. This half-day tour includes visiting Swazi homesteads, ancient caverns, the mysterious sangoma, craft shops, and a 2 km walk through the breathtaking mountain landscape. The waterfall is spectacular, and the sound of running water is soothing. You will be rewarded with a stunning vista.

3. Visit A Traditional Swazi Craft Market

Swaziland has a rich history and offers various activities to suit everyone’s tastes. But there’s so much more to discover! for example the traditional Swazi Craft Markets will undoubtedly appeal to everybody. There are two traditional Swazi artisan markets nearby: one at the entry of the Royal Swazi Sun and another along the main road, next to the Ezulwini Sun. Several vendors offer anything from wooden crafts to paintings to textiles and baskets. This is the location to go if you want to buy a keepsake. There is usually a good selection with something for everyone in the group! Be sure to haggle.

4. Check Out The All Saints Cathedral

This tiny church, located on a hill near the UN headquarters, 1.4 kilometers north of Mbabane’s bus station, is notable because it is the hub of Eswatini’s Anglican community. Note the inside is also modest. However the impressive woodwork used to support the roof helps create a contemplative atmosphere. Indeed the church is designated as a cathedral (seat of a bishop) – the All Saints Cathedral. Unlike others in Eswatini, this church is accessible to the public and welcomes visitors. You will be welcomed by friendly wardens. Because the church needed more space, a new wing in contemporary design was built without detracting from the original aspect. To blend in so to speak.

5. Try And Spot A Black Rhino

The Mkhaya Endangered Species excursion offers a whole day spent in an open Land Rover seeing black rhino, elephant, buffalo, tsessebe, giraffe, and other animals. Enjoy a waterhole refreshment stop and a venison meal in an exclusive bush camp. The accommodations are charming, and the cuisine is delicious. Rangers are incredibly knowledgeable and tell you everything from the smallest to the largest species. This is a must-do for any visitor to Swaziland.
