Thailand Ends Quarantine

Thailand Ends Quarantine Requirement for Some Tourists
Some travellers to Thailand can now enter the country on a quarantine-free visa. This is because the government hopes to fix the damage done to the economy by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Test and Go entry program, which began on 1st February 2022, lets vaccinated travellers from any country enter Thailand without having to quarantine.
Visitors should apply for the quarantine-free visa before they depart. Take a PCR test less than 72 hours before departing and again when they arrive. If the arrival result is negative, they are free to travel anywhere in Thailand, but must take another PCR test on their fifth day.
At least 200,000 travellers are expected by the end of February, under the new rules. In addition to this, about 5 million by the end of the year. The government expects most visitors to come from Europe and the US.
Tourism is one of Thailand’s biggest industries
Tourism is one of Thailand’s biggest industries. Almost 40 million people visited the country in 2019. But because of COVID, fewer than 7 million came in 2020, and the industry lost about $50 billion.
Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha said in October 2021 that “the country must adapt to living with the virus, as it has had to do with other diseases”
