Although Amsterdam is the capital of The Netherlands, Rotterdam is the hub for sea transportation. However when it comes to flowers and diamonds, the former is certainly the centre of commerce.

Besides its remarkable straight tall narrow houses, there is a network of 165 canals with 1281 bridges. Its glory years go back to the 17th century. At that time Amsterdam was the centre for finance and diamonds. In contrast to those times, this Dutch city hosts the headquarters of such high tech companies such as Uber,  Netflix and Tesla. In addition companies such as Philips and ING are based here.

Nevertheless it is a party city. It draws many visitors from Europe and further afield.

The Rijksmuseum is Holland’s most visited museum. It takes the visitor on a journey from the Middle Ages to the 21st century.
